Abstract

Several schools in India do not have constant access to electricity and internet access. Software, such as library management systems (LMS), are often not designed for offline use for extended periods, which is a barrier to their adoption in schools, even though a digital system requires less manual effort than a paper-index library. The existing low-cost or free alternatives are not easy to use for teachers unfamiliar with technology. Often this level of investment discourages schools, especially in more rural areas and cities, from adopting LMS technology. The goal is to develop and build the minimum viable product of a simple LMS, with offline capability and a basic user interface.
