Abstract

With the development of technology, social media like Twitter has become the mainstream of knowledge dissemination, but it is also a medium for spreading negative comments (Ozturk et al., 2015). Bravo et al. (2022) reported that cyber-rumour increases the risk of depression in adolescents. Lanzillo et al. (2023) also suggested that online violence increases the risk of suicide among adolescents. This study investigates whether different types of comments on a simulated social media website affect mood and anxiety levels of participants.
