Title A name given to the resource Social Sciences Subject The topic of the resource Social Sciences Academic Paper An academic paper Abstract The abstract of the paper Given that the peace process in Cyprus has to-date remained securitised with a strong reliance on Track 1 diplomacy, which has thus far failed to make significant progress, this study provides and analyses the viewpoints of Cypriot youth – and a limited selection of those that work and engage with them - which has long been a neglected demographic in relation to the Cyprus Problem and the Cyprus peace process. A total of 32 topics were discussed by participants, during a series of semi-structured focus groups and interviews, which resulted in a combined total of 98,000 words of qualitative data which has been analysed thematically. Participants of this study agreed that Cypriot youth remain disinterested in the Cypriot peace process, although their voices are often neglected by a peace process that is exclusionary and lacks transparency. Both Greek and Turkish Cypriots also felt that the education system in Cyprus promoted ethnonationalism and is unhelpful in developing bi-communal relationships. Many participants of this study were regularly involved in organisations that promote bi-communal activities - the challenges they face, particularly in encouraging engagement from a more diverse group of young Cypriots, are also given extensive discussion in this paper. Participants felt frustrated by the lack of progress in the peace process so far and they all expressed a strong desire for a solution to be achieved, often blaming a lack of political will and international support as the reason a solution has not yet been found after 50 years of failed negotiations. After discussing the views of participants, this paper argues that a multifaceted approach is essential to progress forward to an internationally accepted bi-zonal, bi-communal federation with a need to pursue significant education reforms, along with greater pressure from international actors, and a peace process that is truly transparent and inclusive. Controversy, paucity of knowledge and awareness surrounds the research on Premenstrual dysphoric Disorder. It is an under-researched disorder riddled with methodological limitations, lack of diversity in cohort studies, small samples and a lack of systemic reviews, meta-analysis and randomised control trials. A qualitative systematic literature review was conducted and the findings show that there is no universal diagnostic and screening standardised method, nor is there a different nomenclature used to describe the disorder. First-line treatment of the disease differs among professional healthcare bodies. The foundations of Premenstrual dysphoric disorder were always controversial, as seen with its inclusion in the American Psychiatric DSM-5 and the World Health Organisation’s ICD11 caused controversy where psychologists and feminist thinkers alike argued that this is a way of pathologising a natural process, adding to the stigma around women’s emotions being tied to their hormones. The pathophysiology of the disease is still relatively unknown. However, a widely accepted cause is the interaction of reproductive steroids like oestrogen, progesterone and allopregnanolone on central neurotransmitters like serotonin and GABAa receptors and the Hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis. Other possible causes, associations, and co-morbidities are discussed below. There is a hidden figure of those who have PMDD and are unaware or have not received efficient healthcare services, this research highlights the inconsistencies with how healthcare services approach PMDD. There needs to be more precise definitions around premenstrual dysphoric disorder separated from premenstrual syndrome and more education within healthcare systems about the disorder in order to improve patient-provider communication for better experiences and a more accurate clinical picture of the disorder. In addition, a more personalised care for women with PMDD is needed as well as approaching research of the pathophysiology from a psychosomatic perspective. The glymphatic system, a brain clearance pathway active during slow-wave sleep, has been proposed as a mechanistic link, though its role remains debated. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of preclinical and clinical studies to evaluate associations between sleep disturbances, glymphatic dysfunction, and cognition. Sleep disorders were consistently associated with impaired glymphatic clearance, with the strongest effects in OSA, supported by dose–response and cognitive analyses.
