Description

Homophilous Networks with Infectious Diseases

The Covid-19 pandemic has affected nearly every aspect of our lives since it hit 2 years ago. Policies enacted to reduce social contact such as mandatory mask-wearing and vaccination have sparked widespread debate on whether they are necessary and efficient. In my URSS project this summer, I used network models with differing levels of homophily to identify whether government policy should focus on promoting vaccination or mask-wearing in the short-run and long-run to reduce the number of deaths caused by infection.
