Abstract

Popular culture is deeply linked to societal interests and anxieties. In horror films, hostile technology, often in the form of AI, has become a popular trope. Using two sources from different periods, this project seeks to examine how societal attitudes towards AI have changed from the latter half of the nineteenth century to the twenty-first century.
