The research shows that military crackdowns together with centralized law enforcement have achieved minimal short-term success because corruption and elite control and social exclusion have continued to persist. The study reveals that illegal mining continues because enforcement agencies lack proper collaboration with other agencies and the community remains uninvolved and poverty and unemployment serve as major sustaining factors. The research from Peru demonstrates that police interventions based on enforcement alone face severe limitations. The research shows that state institutions need to develop their abilities through decentralized governance and community-based formalization systems to establish lasting solutions. Title A name given to the resource Science, Engineering and Medicine Academic Poster An academic poster Abstract The abstract of the paper This retrospective audit evaluated compliance with local and national guidelines for venous thromboembolism (VTE) prophylaxis among adult ENT inpatients at University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire (UHCW) during September 2025. Patient records were reviewed via the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system to assess timely completion of VTE risk assessments, appropriate prescribing of prophylaxis based on patient weight and renal function, and adherence to UHCW and NICE NG89 standards. Of the 25 patients included, 96% received appropriate VTE prophylaxis, with only one instance of incorrect Enoxaparin dosing identified. Weight was documented in 92% of cases, and renal function in 63%. These findings indicate a strong overall compliance with local and national standards, though opportunities remain to improve documentation consistency and dosing accuracy. Recommendations include targeted staff education on weight- and renal-adjusted dosing, reinforcement of timely VTE risk assessments, and the introduction of electronic prescribing alerts to minimise human error. A re-audit is planned within six months to monitor progress. This audit demonstrates that VTE prophylaxis practices within the ENT department at UHCW are robust, but highlights the need for ongoing vigilance to ensure continued patient safety and adherence to best practice. Three questions were identified for this review: (i) the effectiveness of online dating in reducing loneliness, (ii) the role of population characteristics in influencing loneliness when using dating apps, (iii) the impact of dating app usage during the Covid Pandemic and loneliness. A comprehensive search across 5 databases yielded 152 research of which, 7 met the inclusion criteria through the PRISMA process. The main results was that (i) online dating platforms provide temporary relief from loneliness due to the initial social interactions, however for this to be maintained, in-person interactions is required, (ii) gender, age, sexual orientation, and a rejection-sensitivity personality trait are factors influencing the effectiveness of online dating in reducing loneliness, and (iii) the Covid-19 restrictions emphasise the importance of a physical presence in fulfilling social and emotional needs. The systemic review has practical implications for the real-world. Developers can implement features to encourage deeper connections, facilitating tools to support users in transitioning to in-person meetings, and the incorporation of emotional support to improve users’ mental health wellbeing. This review highlights opportunities for online dating platforms to improve by facilitating tools to address users complex social and emotional needs.
