<text>This paper examines how central banks integrating sustainability initiatives into monetary policy affects macroeconomic stability. Using quarterly data for 184 countries from 2001 to 2024, we assess whether membership in the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS), as a proxy to show whether a central bank is sustainable, influences five macroeconomic variables: inflation, inflation volatility, GDP growth, GDP volatility, and unemployment. A series of pooled OLS and fixed effects regressions are used, while semi-structured interviews with central bank officials complement the quantitative analysis. The results indicate that NGFS membership is generally associated with greater macroeconomic stability in high-income economies, reflected in lower inflation, stronger growth, and reduced volatility. Interviewees from high- and middle-income countries agreed that their central banks did not recognise a trade-off between sustainability in central banking, and the effectiveness of monetary policy. However, regression results indicate that middle- and low-income countries experience trade-offs, possibly due to weaker institutional capacity and resource constraints.</text>

<text>This paper finds that banking crisis frequently begin to develop in moments where an economy is strong, rather than just from periods of weakness. It uses data from 21 emerging markets (1970-2024) from international economic and institutional data sources, then applying a random-effects logit model to find that although strong socioeconomic conditions help contain crisis risk, credit growth, inflation and external imbalances significantly increase risk. As institutions respond to this increase in risk, analysis showed that a government’s stability is less protective, instead results have shown stability to frequently increase preceding a crisis.</text>

<text>Only around one-third of London’s tube stations currently offer full step-free access from street to train – a limitation that restricts mobility for many and undermines the goal of an inclusive, equitable London. Enhancing accessibility is therefore not merely an infrastructural priority but a social imperative. Yet, with limited resources, strategic prioritisation is essential. This project adopts a data-driven approach to identify and prioritise stations for accessibility upgrades, maximising social benefit and supporting a fairer, more connected London.</text>

<text>Previous research has demonstrated that retrieval practice may have an advantage in learning over imitation. This study explored the effects of feedback timing on learning of vocabulary, morphology (word structure), and syntax (word order) in a small artificial language. 100 monolingual English speakers took part in a learning task where they were exposed to nouns and phrases in the artificial language paired with pictures, and were randomly allocated to one of two conditions. In the imitation condition, participants had to repeat a phrase after it was shown, whereas in the retrieval condition, participants had to produce a phrase before being shown the correct phrase. After noun and sentence training, participants took part in a comprehension test and a production test. Levenshtein distance and t-test analyses showed participants in the retrieval condition performed significantly better in the comprehension test and production of vocabulary, plural markers, and word order, but there was no significant difference between groups in the accuracy of their plural markers. The results demonstrate that retrieval practice may be more beneficial than imitation in language learning. The role of active learning, memory processes, and stronger associations between stimuli are suggested as explanations. The study acts as a starting point for further investigations into grammar learning and feedback timing. </text>
