<text>This study investigates housing inequality in Barcelona through a comparative case study of two sharply contrasting neighbourhoods: Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, one of the city’s wealthiest districts, and Nou Barris, among its most deprived. The research combines structured surveys on housing and environmental quality with in-depth resident interviews. Findings reveal significant disparities in housing conditions, affordability, and infrastructure, with Nou Barris residents experiencing substandard living environments and heightened insecurity. In contrast, Sarrià residents benefit from well-maintained, spacious homes and long-term stability. The study highlights how housing inequality in Barcelona is not just material but felt by residents, shaping wellbeing, opportunity, and the right to remain in the city. Policy recommendations include targeted investment in public housing, rent regulation, and equitable urban planning that centres the needs of vulnerable communities.</text>

<text>Epstein-Barr virus is a ubiquitous human virus, with over 90% of adults worldwide being asymptomatic carriers. It is known to be associated with elevated risk of several specific cancers, including naso-pharyngeal carcinoma and Burkitt's lymphoma. Studying the mechanisms of how the virus causes cancer to develop gives insights on how to create more effective treatments for those cancers. This project explored the culturing of EBV+ cell lines, and the preliminary assays needed to conduct future research into anticancer treatments.</text>

<text>This paper examines how central banks integrating sustainability initiatives into monetary policy affects macroeconomic stability. Using quarterly data for 184 countries from 2001 to 2024, we assess whether membership in the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS), as a proxy to show whether a central bank is sustainable, influences five macroeconomic variables: inflation, inflation volatility, GDP growth, GDP volatility, and unemployment. A series of pooled OLS and fixed effects regressions are used, while semi-structured interviews with central bank officials complement the quantitative analysis. The results indicate that NGFS membership is generally associated with greater macroeconomic stability in high-income economies, reflected in lower inflation, stronger growth, and reduced volatility. Interviewees from high- and middle-income countries agreed that their central banks did not recognise a trade-off between sustainability in central banking, and the effectiveness of monetary policy. However, regression results indicate that middle- and low-income countries experience trade-offs, possibly due to weaker institutional capacity and resource constraints.</text>

<text>This essay investigates how everyday decorative ceramics, Spode's 'Indian Sporting' collection in particular, worked as domestic propaganda that normalised the ideologies of empire and romanticised them. Originating from Samuel Howitt's engravings within Thomas Williamson's 'Oriental Field Sports' (1805), Spode's transfer-printed plates transformed colonial hunting imagery into mass-produced household objects to be used daily. Through exoticising landscapes, exaggerating hierarchies and altering the original prints to become spectacles of entertainment, the designs reinforced racial inequality and imperial values while simultaneously presenting the British as heroes for aiding a culture and people that they viewed as 'backward' and untamed. Ultimately, this collection exemplifies how visual culture had political intention and legitimised colonial prospects and authority within the domestic sphere. </text>
