A CAR-T receptor specific to IgE antibodies was designed, a plasmid containing the receptor was created and this was expressed in Jurkat T cells. An activation assay confirmed that these cells were activated in the presence of the IgE Fc region. This CAR-T receptor may therefore be used for further research as it could be able to specifically target and kill B cells expressing IgE.</text>

<text>Recent work has shown that FPGA accelerators can achieve high performance and energy efficiency for stencil-based solvers using automatic code generation and High-Level Synthesis (HLS). The OPS (Oxford Parallel library for Structured mesh solvers) DSL demonstrates this by analysing iterative stencil loops and generating deeply pipelined FPGA designs with domain-specific optimisations. The current OPS FPGA backend implements these optimisations through a custom code-generation pipeline, but embeds compiler logic directly within the code generator rather than using an explicit intermediate representation. Multi-Level Intermediate Representation (MLIR) provides a more structured approach, allowing programs to be represented and progressively lowered between abstraction levels while making the compiler more maintainable and extensible. This research aims to investigate MLIR-based lowering strategies for OPS stencil applications targeting FPGAs, exploring existing infrastructure and how it could be extended to support a broader range of applications.</text>

<text>The Marsh Observatory at the University of Warwick is highly dependent on specific weather conditions to operate effectively, often leading to the postponement of key activities such as outreach events and astrophysics research. Observatories worldwide are unique in their design, geographical location, and operating environments, meaning they often require bespoke solutions to address site-specific challenges. Common issues such as dew formation, cloud cover, and high wind speeds are primary causes of dome closure. Addressing these limitations has the potential to significantly improve observatory uptime and overall performance. Relevant sensors will be installed within the observatory dome to measure ambient temperature and humidity, followed by computational analysis to determine an appropriate feedback response to changing environmental conditions. This data, alongside principles from applied thermodynamics, will inform the design specifications of the dew heater. In parallel, a custom “flat panel” will be prototyped to explore the possibility of capturing essential calibration frames under unfavourable weather conditions. The current use of an air conditioning unit to provide uniform heating across the dome results in significant energy waste and can impede overall telescope image quality. By implementing a more localised heating solution, energy usage can be reduced while minimising thermal disturbances around the optical system. This leads to improved image quality and increased thermal efficiency, both of which enhances observatory performance. This research and development will provide a framework for other institutional observatories to replicate and implement similar upgrades within their own systems, offering a more cost-effective and efficient solution to these observational challenges.</text>

<text>This study investigates the implications of Central Bank Digital Currencies (CB DCs) for financial systems, focusing on their impact on commercial banking models, monetary policy, and public adoption, using The Bahamas’ Sand Dollar as a case study. Employing a mixed-methods approach that integrates theoretical and econo metric modelling with public perception surveys, it provides a comprehensive under standing of CBDC integration in both theory and practice. The analysis assesses how CBDCs influence bank liquidity, lending behaviour, and the coexistence of stablecoins while capturing public awareness and acceptance levels. Findings reveal that although CBDCs enhance payment efficiency, financial inclusion, and cross-border transaction capabilities, they simultaneously challenge traditional banking intermediation and raise concerns about privacy and cybersecurity. Insights drawn from The Bahamas’ early adoption experience demonstrate the importance of public trust, technological readi ness, and regulatory clarity in shaping outcomes. Overall, this research offers evidence based guidance for policymakers and financial institutions, contributing to global dis cussions on CBDC design, financial stability, and the balance between centralised and decentralised digital assets.</text>

<text>This research investigates how biologically relevant fluids affect the performance of lateral flow glyco-assays. Building on previous work by Baker et al., two glycosylated polymers, 40 and 72 length, were synthesised and used to functionalise 16nm gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). These fully functionalised nanoparticles were then incorporated into buffer solutions doped with biological fluids—blood, saliva, and urine and tested against differing concentrations of SBA and bovine serum albumin (BSA) (control group, no affinity for Gal-PHEA).</text>

<text>Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder is characterised by the cyclical nature of psychological and somatic symptoms occurring in the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle that significantly affect the functioning of various aspects of daily life. Controversy, paucity of knowledge and awareness surrounds the research on Premenstrual dysphoric Disorder. It is an under-researched disorder riddled with methodological limitations, lack of diversity in cohort studies, small samples and a lack of systemic reviews, meta-analysis and randomised control trials. No universal diagnostic and screening standardised method is used worldwide, nor is there a different nomenclature used to describe the disorder. First-line treatment of the disease differs among professional healthcare bodies. The foundations of Premenstrual dysphoric disorder were always controversial, as seen with its inclusion in the American Psychiatric DSM-5 and the World Health Organisation’s ICD11 caused controversy where psychologists and feminist thinkers alike argued that this is a way of pathologising a natural process, adding to the stigma around women’s emotions being tied to their hormones. The pathophysiology of the disease is still relatively unknown. However, a widely accepted cause is the interaction of reproductive steroids like oestrogen, progesterone and allopregnanolone on central neurotransmitters like serotonin and GABAa receptors and the Hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis. Other possible causes, associations, and co-morbidities are discussed. There needs to be more precise definitions around premenstrual dysphoric disorder separated from premenstrual syndrome and more education within healthcare systems about the disorder in order to improve patient-provider communication for better experiences and a more accurate clinical picture of the disorder. As well as more personalised care for women with PMDD and approaching research of the pathophysiology from a psychosomatic perspective.</text>
