<text>Pharmaceutical pollution of river water through sewage spills, improper disposal and hospital wastewater discharge is an emerging problem in the UK. In this project, a low-cost, 3D printed electrochemical sensor was used to detect paracetamol (the most used over-the-counter medication in the UK) in river water. To develop an understanding of how the sensor works, the working electrode was imaged using both optical and scanning electron microscopy. The sensor was first trialled in high conductivity salt solutions, before moving on to tap water and river water spiked with 0.1 to 1 mM of paracetamol. Finally, a range of experiments using ferrocenylmethyl trimethylammonium hexafluorophosphate were run to study the reusability of the sensors, and how 3D printed electrodes compare to conventional macroelectrodes. Overall, 3D printed electrochemical sensors have huge potential in the analysis of water quality. These sensors cost less than £5 to produce, compared to typical electrochemical cells which cost approximately £500, and do not require any extensive scientific knowledge to use. In the final part of this project, a written method and accompanying video describing how to use these sensors were made, with the intention to invite local ‘Citizen Scientists’ to test the sensors themselves.</text>

<text>Dynamic environments are a phenomenon within video games that tend to be strictly used in multiplayer settings as it is challenging to create agents that can effectively navigate and take advantage of such a rapidly changing setting. In this paper we will discuss a simple modification to the well-known A* pathfinding algorithm that allows agents to navigate through destructible environments within a 2D setting. Furthermore, we will discuss potential improvements to our solution and alternative methods.</text>

<text>This research report examines the mining industry in Guatemala, focusing on the diverse perspectives of various stakeholders regarding development and the industry’s benefits. Through a series of interviews with indigenous community members, government officials, and academics, the study explores the multifaceted impacts of mining activities. The findings reveal a complex landscape where economic benefits, such as job creation and infrastructure development, are weighed against environmental degradation and social disruption. Indigenous community members express concerns about health risks and loss of traditional livelihoods, while academics highlight economic growth and technological advancements. Government officials discuss regulatory challenges and policy implications, emphasizing sustainable long-term practices. This report aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of how the mining industry aligns with or contradicts the development goals of different stakeholders, offering insights for policymakers to balance economic and social interests.</text>
